• The “fixing drive gear” (also called fuser drive gear, fixing drive assembly, fixing drive gear set) is part of the fuser / fixing assembly. It drives the rollers (fixing roller, pressure roller) so that the paper with toner passes through and the toner is fused (heated & pressed) onto the paper.

• In Kyocera 2040 series, parts like GEAR, FIXING DRIVE ASS’Y (set of 5 pcs) are available. 

• There is also a Fixing Drive Gear Set (9 gear set) for Kyocera 2040 listed in copier parts shops.

• Replacement fuser drive gear kits are sold under part number 302RV94020 for models including P2040 / M2040 etc.

So, the “drive gear” you refer to is likely one (or more) plastic gears in that gear-train that transmits rotation from the motor to the fuser rollers.
